ALICE-in-Action Challenge 2010

Theme: Storytelling through Animation

Registration is now open until Monday, 13 September 2010

ALICE-in-Action is an Information Technology (IT) challenge, jointly organised by the Temasek Polytechnic Informatics & IT School and the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore. This is a national competition open to all secondary school students.

ALICE is a simple-to-use tool that familiarises students with programming concepts in a fun and interactive manner. We would like to invite your students to participate in this competition and demonstrate their talent for programming. The theme for this year’s challenge is ‘Storytelling through Animation’. Students are required to develop an interactive animation to tell a story. The animation should be interesting, entertaining and engaging.

This competition is part of the National Infocomm Competition (NIC) co-ordinated by IDA. Registration is now open until Monday, 13 September 2010. The entry form as well as the rules and regulations for the ALICE-in-Action Challenge are attached. The deadline for project submission is Monday, 27 September 2010. The Challenge finals will be held on Thursday, 4 November 2010 at LT13, Temasek Polytechnic.

Training Workshops for Secondary School Students

Free training workshops on how to use the ALICE software will be provided for your students at Temasek Polytechnic. Please choose one session that is convenient for your students.

Send an email to alice3D@tp.edu.sg by Friday, 2 July 2010, indicating the name of the school, the session chosen, and the number of students attending (not more than 10 students per school). We will send you information on the actual venue after we consolidate the training sessions. The choice of training sessions is listed below:

ALICE-in-Action is part of the National Infocomm Competition 2009 co-ordinated by IDA. Registration is now open. The deadline for project submission is 24 July 2009 (Friday). The Challenge finals will be held on 20 August 2009 (Thursday) at Auditorium 1, Temasek Polytechnic. In this challenge, competitors are required to use ALICE to create an animation about the YOG (Youth Olympic Games). The animation can be an interactive game or an animated story related to the YOG.
